Weekend Wrap Up

Happy Monday, friends. There was so much awesome this weekend, I felt it deserved it's own post. Besides, we aren't doing fat stats until Tuesday now, so I figured we should add some filler.

This weekend was an epic fail in the eating department, but damn, I had some seriously good food. The small people and I made some fabulous pumpkin butterscotch cookies on Saturday morning, and on Sunday I busted out a huge crock of beef stew. I'm happy to cross both of those things off the Fall bucket list.

These were ridiculously good...

As was this...

Saturday night my sister watched the munchkins so Mr. FGS and I could have a date night. It had been over TWELVE weeks since we'd gotten out of the house sans kids, and it was all kinds of worthwhile and awesome. We ate at my favorite Mexican joint and watched Zombieland. [It goes without saying that it's one of my favorite movies, right?]

NEVER forget Rule #1!!!!!

Sunday was cleaning, cooking, going to the park and having my nieces over for dinner. Some weekends have so much happy in them that it physically hurts when Monday shows up. That's about where I am right now!

I wanted to take a moment to mention a project a friend of mine is doing. This is one of the best ideas I've seen in a very long time. You can see what it's all about at http://hokeypokeyproject.com/. I hate to summarize what others are doing, so this is straight from the site:

For the next fifty-two weeks, my family will strive to create a weekly public project that will serve no other purpose than to make people smile–perhaps hundreds of people or maybe just one. But smiles are the primary goal.

Secondarily, the goal of the Hokey Pokey Project is to teach my own children that they have vast power, even at the tender ages of two and four, to better people’s lives, one smile and one moment at a time.

Go take a peek at this project and prepare to be amazed.

I hope every one of you out there has a fantastic, healthy Monday. We'll be back tomorrow with fat stats [that I'm totally dreading, just FYI].

The Weekend Wrap Up

I'll be brief, because there really isn't a lot to say. It started out great as MT and I ran TEN CONSECUTIVE MILES on Friday morning. I am so ridiculously proud of us!!! From there however, the healthy habits just went out the window. I headed to Portland at 4pm on Friday where.....

There was waaaaay too much of this:

This was still early in the game...

And a whole lot of this:

Lots and lots of girly shopping...
Even more of this:

Iced chai from Tea Chai Te... YUM.

Not nearly enough of this:

My ONE attempt at a healthy meal...

Lots and lots of this:

The food consumption was slightly ridiculous...

Copious amounts of this:

This chocolate store was insane.

And still some of this:

Vodka and I are no longer friends today.

And don't forget, there was a bunch of this too [I'm on the left!]:

Aren't we super dorks...

I had a great weekend hanging with friends, but I'm paying for it today. I could barely finish a 3 mile run at lunch time, and I swear I was sweating out vodka by the gallon. Ugg. Lessons learned for sure, but hey, everyone needs to cut loose for a weekend once in awhile.

Weekend Wrap Up

Good morning, bloggie friends! Happy SUMMER! It's official; I can't believe it. I got a jump start crossing items off my bucket list this weekend, and even though it's Monday morning, I'm still relishing in the awesome weekend.

On Friday night we had my BFF and her family over for dinner. [Actually, they brought dinner to US, bless them]. For dessert we made root beer floats, which enabled me to check the first item off of my list! They were total YUM too!

Lotsa calories, but so freaking worth it...

Saturday morning started BEFORE 4am as MT and I got ready to run NINE miles. NINE. There's a fine line between insanity and brilliance, and I think we are straddling it right now. At least I can cross the pre-dawn run off my list. It truly was amazing though. Our time per mile was less than last week, and the run itself felt better overall. I even tried out some Shot Blocks and my new fuel belt, both of which proved to be super successful for long runs.

It was pitch black out my window when we left!

After we got back, it was garage sale time. [Another bucket list item, holla!] By the end of the day I was wiped out, but my house is much less cluttered, and we made some serious cash money.

Less crap, more money?  Yes, please.

Sunday was Father's day, and I had an incredible time celebrating my amazing husband and dad. We started the day with a yummy brunch and ended it with a tether ball tournament in my parent's back yard. [Who knew my mom kicked so much ass at tether ball??] Oh, and I made some totally fabulous sun tea with lemon on Sunday afternoon. So delish, and so good for you! I did some serious damage to that bucket list this weekend!

Don't knock the cup!  My nerdiness knows no bounds.

It's back to the grind today, and I have one big goal this week. MT and I realized last week that exercise has become so routine that we don't even think about it anymore. Our food intake, on the other hand, is still really inconsistent. I started tracking with Spark People last week, but lost motivation about half way through. So my lofty goal this week is to track every single thing I eat. All week. No exceptions. Oh, and stay within the calorie requirements. That's it. I need to get healthy foods to be another habit, just like running. It's proving far more difficult, however.

I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend. Here's to a new season and a week of lofty goals!
