I've Got A Feeling...

...That tonight's gonna be a good night.  That tonight's gonna be a good good night.

This week I've exercised ONCE.

I've had ZERO green smoothies.

I've made maybe TWO good decisions with food.

But you know what???  I'm going out tonight.  I'm going out with my work crew [including Muffin Top, natch!], sans kids.  And for just today, I don't give a SHIT about exercise and weight loss.

Yep. Yep.  NO problems tonight!!!

I'll be back on Monday with something productive to say.  Until then, have a FABULOUS weekend.

CHEERS!!!!

I'm On A Boat

Well ladies, I'm back. I'm hoping you realized I was gone, maybe even missed me a little bit?

I had a weekend of epic proportions - possibly the most (girl-only) fun of my entire life! What was I doing you might be wondering... Well, as I reminded everyone over, and over, and over again:

I [was] ON A BOAT!!!

Did I work out? Nope. Did I eat good? Nope. Did I track calories? Nope. Did I stop drinking when enough was enough? Nope.

As far as the "healthfulness" of my mini-vaca goes - epic fail. But you know what? That's okay. I'm totally fine it. I truly needed this get away. Time to completely let loose and just laugh. Time to realize that life isn't actually all work, laundry, waist lines, stress, grocery shopping, stupid co-workers, car troubles, workouts, missed workouts, money troubles, calorie counting, marriage troubles ... It is more, and I had forgotten that.

So, today when I got a completely irritating email from "that" stupid co-worker, my blood pressure didn't spike, I didn't cuss and bemoan my life - I laughed.

Today when I thought I might die during my 5 mile run? I finished it anyway. I was the one single person this weekend to speed walk up a hill, without getting out of breath.

And that? That is worth the time off from my training, and any pain I might face getting back in the groove of things.

Life IS good.

This Week's Progress

Long time no see!

Sorry for our delayed absence and lack of posting - I'm gonna blame it all on FGS, of course ;)

On Monday I promised to tweet my daily caloric numbers each night. For those of you who might not be following us on Twitter (if not, please, please, please would you?!) I thought I would show you my numbers too.

Monday
Consumed: 1,546
Exercised: 680
Differential: - 1022

Tuesday
Consumed: 1,534
Exercised: 670
Differential: - 1024

Wednesday
Consumed: 1,758
Exercised: 815
Differential: -946

So far this week (since Monday), I've had a total of negative 2,992. WOOT!!! That's almost a one pound deficit!

Problem is, I'm leaving tomorrow morning for my last hurrah of the summer. There will be considerable quantities of alcohol consumed, there's just no way around it. I think (cross your fingers) that I have the food thing more or less situated - I just have to really pay attention to the calories in my drinks.

I will try my best to continue tweeting my numbers, but I can't make any guarantees. I can tell you this though, be prepared for some drunk tweeting this weekend ;)

Unfortunately I need to spend the last hour at work actually doing work, so that's all for today!

Have a wonderful (and in control - at least calorie wise) weekend!

Your Body is a Temple - Not a Crack House

The old adage that you should treat your body like a temple? This is true shit.

Last night I treated myself with all the respect of a crack house.

The last "healthy" thing that I did was to have a small bowl of Honey Bunches of Oats at 4:00 pm. And it all went downhill from there.

If you read yesterday, last night was the premiere of Eclipse, and Fat Girl Slim, me and a few other girlies all went to the triple feature. Twilight at 7:15, New Moon at 9:30 and the supremely ass-kicking Eclipse at 12:01 this morning. (Which, if you follow us on Twitter - you were mostly likely very aware of!)

Don't get me wrong - it was awesome and I don't regret it at all. But I could should have treated myself so much better.

I went home an hour early from work to see my boys briefly before meeting FGS back at the office at 5:15. On the way back I stopped by 7-Eleven and grabbed a 1-liter Diet Dr. Pepper for later and a pepperoni stick (protein = healthy, right?). Once I got to the office I had a Vitamin Water (again, healthy-ish, right?). The vodka that may or may not have been in it - not super healthy. But a little here and there isn't horrible for you.

Long story short - over the next 9 hours I consumed the following:
  • A huge movie popcorn (with "only" light butter)
  • The 1 liter Diet Dr. Pepper I got at 7-Eleven with some scrumptious Sailor Jerry in it
  • A package of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups
  • A 3 Musketeers
  • A large Sprite (which I actually didn't finish in favor of not peeing my pants)
Combine this with the fact that I did not do my 3 mile run yesterday and I got about three measly hours of sleep - I think you can pretty much guess whether or not I did the 4 miles I was supposed to do today.

The point of my rambling? It's never more apparent to me than after I really treat myself like shit that YOU HAVE TO BE GOOD TO YOURSELF! A special occasion does not give you free reign to do whatever the hell you feel like. Because when you do, the only thing you end up feeling like is crap.

So, I just made plans to spend a weekend with a bunch of girls on a houseboat at lake Shasta in 7 weeks.

Do you realize what that means?!?!?!

An entire weekend spent in a *cringe* bathing suit.

NO more of this bullshit Muffin Top!!!

I'm formulating a detailed eating and training schedule for operation "not look like a nasty giant hippo at the lake". I'll let you know more about it in the next day or two.

For now though, I'm going to go home tonight, have a smoothie for dinner, snuggle with my wonderful little boys, lay on the couch with my sweet hubby, and go to bed super early.

Have a great night all :)

The Big Drunk Hump

Yeah, yeah, I know Wednesday is green smoothie day.  But with the onslaught of summer and the stress of my work week, I've decided to mix it up a little.  I've been searching for the perfect sangria recipe, and I think I've found a total winner.  This recipe comes highly recommended from some of my favorite drunks friends.

It's got lots o' fruit in it, so it's gotta be healthy, right?  Ok, shut up, it's my blog, and I can post an unsavory recipe if I want to!

The biggest thing to remember when preparing any sangria is to let it sit for AT LEAST 12 hours, but 24 hours is ideal.  This gives all that fruit a chance to integrate and mingle and get really tasty.

So here's to summer faithful blog readers.  I'll be whipping up a batch this weekend for sure.

1 gallon red wine, not too sweet, more on the dry side. Don’t get really cheap stuff!

3 sliced oranges, 4 oranges squeezed.
1 lemon sliced, 1/2 lemon squeezed
2 limes sliced, 2 limes squeezed
2 tbsp sugar
1/4 cup cointreau (triple sec will do)
1 cup brandy (or more!)
(you can add other fruit if you’d like, raspberries, strawberries, mango)

Mix all ingredients together.  Refrigerate for 12 hours prior to consumption.
